The Simplest 3 Days Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

If you only have two to three days in Kuala Lumpur for some sightseeing and some downtime and you just want to take it easy with doing the bare minimum then this is the itinerary for you. If you are a backpacker and are looking for adventure, you might get some ideas from this blogs, but this may not be the itinerary for you.

Batu Cave Lake

Day 1: Chillen with a View

It doesn't really matter whether your arrived late last night or early this morning. Today is gone be an easy relaxing day. We advise that you get some rest in before starting to explore KL.

First thing first, walk your surrounding! This is just so you can familiarize yourself with what's around you and whether you really will need to use transportation later on. Our hostel was about 10 minutes walk from Pavilion Mall, so that saved us some cash on transportation.

Heli Lounge - Sunset with a View

Get there early! Seats will be taken super fast. It’s a nice view to share some drinks and enjoy the view and you'll be able to see the patron towers and needle.

It's useless to go to the Patron Towers if you won't enter the building which you have to pay to enter, and knowing that we decided to just chill at Heli lounge and enjoy the view. For us, there was no point into going to the Patron Towers just for pictures if we could do it from here. If you want to get the best pic of Patron Towers there is actually a better spot for that which we will reveal later on in this post.

Pavilion Mall

Pavilion Mall

Kuala Lumpur is known for having one of the best and largest malls in Asia. You don't necessarily need to shop, but its nice if you wanna grab a bite to eat and go to the movies or anything like that. Because we haven't been to the States in a long time this was just something to make us feel like we were home and the perfect spot to catch a late night movie. By the way, all movies are played in English, so check that out.

Day 2: Explore KL

Today is when the exploring starts. You want to make sure you get to see enough today, so start your day a bit early and take a grab to Central Market.

This is the spot if you want to shop for souvenirs and try some KL delicacies. Make sure to try Putu Bambi Tradisi known to be the best street food in Malaysia!

Basically it's rice flour cooked with pandan leaf, pandan extract, palm sugar, and dried out coconut steamed in bamboo pipes. I'm not a coconut fan but this was actually really tasty.

Get some lunch at a local spot and since you are close by walk around Medeka square.

Madeka square

If you are interested you can go down to China town and India village. We opted out because we were going to those countries. If not, hop on a grab and go to Batu caves.

Batu Caves

Batu cave

The Batu cave is one of the biggest attraction in Malaysia and the biggest attraction in Kuala Lumpur. I'm sure you have seen similar picture when looking up KL or Malaysia in general. You can not leave KL without visiting Batu Caves, I mean you can, but don't. It's a Hindu cave temple which consists of three huge limestone caves.

There are 272 steps to get up to the temple and along the way you will encounter many monkeys. Be careful of your belongings because they will snatch it. There is also a lake and other things to check out here.

It's a nice place to spend some time in the afternoon there. Definitely take a grab to get here because it is less hustle and same if not cheaper than taking a bus to get there. The monkeys were honestly the highlight of our KL trip, so I hope you end up having a great time here too.

Sky Bar

this is inside a hotel with a huge pool in the middle with an amazing view! Matter fact, this is the best view you'll get of Pavilion Tower.

You can swim during the day but not later on in the night. It's a nice spot to kick back and relax. The more people you have the better.

Day 3: BYE BYE KL

KL has a pretty big airport and on top of that traffic can get pretty bad in KL, so make sure to get there early. I'd advise you to be arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your departure. The airport is huge enough to grab a bite to eat or check out others things there if you end up having extra time.
