Klong Lad Mayom Floating Market

Khlong Lat Mayom is a floating markets located close to Bangkok, and it is nothing like the huge touristy Floating market Damnoen Saduak. It’s more of a local market and a bit more different than the other floating market. This place is perfect for foodies and adventures eaters!

ĵ

When you first arrive, it looks like a regular outside market. But once you walk through the open building, you will see few locals sitting on long boats below a low bridge cooking many different Thai dishes for customers.

You will also see others selling vegetables and fresh fruits from their boats. A lot of the fruits are fresh from Thailand and cheap so you should definitely try some!

The only downside is majority of the locals and vendors do not speak English, so you might have to use your body language and other methods to communicate. Honestly though, you won't struggle much. You probably will be okay with just pointing at things unless you want to order a meal from a long boat and you don't know what the food it's made out of, but try your best anyway.

Some vendors in the open buildings have English description and name of the dishes while others use pictures, so you will be fine.

There are also Thai Stands in the market with many more varieties of Thai dishes as well as souvenir and clothing stands. Don't buy any souvenirs or clothes here because you can find better things cheaper in central Bangkok.

The canal is very narrow and short so there aren't many long boats parked alongside the riverbank. If you want to ride a boat here, I would advise against it because they don't have much to see. This is more of a place to explore if you want to try traditional Thai dishes. If you really want to hop on a long boat, do it in Damnoen Saduak for the best experience.

Thai Crepes

The best part about this floating market is the varieties of different Thai dishes made differently by locals, so if you are a foodie or down to try something new this is a nice place to spend couple hours during your visit in Bangkok.
